AKRON, Ohio — Crafty Mart will host its third annual Creative Catapult event in a virtual format from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23.
Creative Catapult will feature a handful of local makers and artists who compete to win a grant of $2,000 for their business by pitching their ideas to an audience, who then vote for the winner.
This year, that audience will be virtual, viewing the event through Vimeo on Demand. Each Creative Catapult ticketholder will receive a box in the mail which includes products from each contestant, to see each business’ work up close.
“Creative Catapult is like ‘Shark Tank’ with a handmade, hometown flair,” said Marissa McClellan, the executive director of Crafty Mart, in a press release. “This event is the culmination of many hours of hard work and creative energy and offers an incredible opportunity for these artists and makers to take their business to the next level. We are so thankful to have found a way to preserve this unique experience during an uncertain year.”
Tickets to the event cost $40 and include handmade items from each competing business, along with a coupon to NOMZ, an Akron eatery. You can find more information about the event at craftymart.org/makers.
